American Ninja Without Dialogue
For me it is like doing a puzzle, where the solution is silence.
Back during the pandemic, when everybody was baking bread, I conducted a deeply serious scientific study to prove that the movie ‘The Expendables’ would be inherently superior if as an experience if none of the male actors could talk. That evolved into another noble experiment: ‘What if Fast & Furious was Faster and Silently Furiouser?’ I stripped out all the dialogue and sped up all the driving scenes by one or two hundred percent.
Anyway, my brother Mike and the Terrific Trash Vortex of life tricked me into watching the movie American Ninja (1985). So here is a scene with the dialogue completely ripped out. Enjoy the silence.
I know, I know, you wanted ninja. Luckily we can join this silent tour of the ninja factory which is core to the narrative of American Ninja, and apparent is a trope shared by every movie in the franchise… as it should be. There is a line of dialogue in this scene, I wanted you to know that the ninja with the black star is called Black Star Ninja. It is likely I could make shorter clips, but that kind of undercuts the absurdity of doing a full fan edit of someone else’s movie.
As of posting I have removed dialogue from 85% of the movie… for better or worse.
